Did You Get the Number of the Truck That Just Hit Me?

Wow. It’s the middle of Tuesday afternoon and it’s still hard to wrap my brain around the beating New Orleans suffered at the hands of the Seadderall Seattle Seahawks last night. With the exception of a couple of bend-but-don’t-break performances by the defense, which, for the most part, kept Marshawn Lynch in check, there isn’t much good to take from a game like that. It was, almost without doubt, the worst loss of the Payton – Brees era and leaves the Saints to regroup with huge games looming against the streaking Carolina Panthers. But, as I search for silver linings, it turns out the bright side of this game is just how unexpected the outcome was. Continue reading

As we recover from our Thanksgiving Day engorgement, I would like to say that I am thankful to live in such an amazing time. So much air and pixels are devoted to the bad in the world, but the fact is that I see so much progress, from sitting on the edge of the commercial space flight era, to medical breakthroughs promising so much hope to the formerly hopeless, to the fact that, with so much violence and bigotry in the world, we can still see humanity becoming more open minded and tolerant towards each other. With each passing generation old prejudices and mores are looking more and more like embarrassing relics of the past. I’m thankful for the Wife, the Bug, the critters and all of my wonderful friends and family. And I’m thankful for you, one of the, what, five or six people who might actually read this.

What a crazy week, dominated by the Drew Brees – Ahmad Brooks controversy, one that I contend was largely manufactured by a certain worldwide leader. As we sit here, nearly a week later, the narrative has gotten to the point that San Francisco journalists are insisting that Brooks caressed Brees in his manly arms before gently laying him down on the turf like a swaddling baby and then read him a bedtime story before tucking him in. Such a delicate play, the kind of thing that causes people to bleed from the mouth all the time. Give me a break. Tell you what, I’ll give you a break and not talk about it anymore. In fact, let’s tie up the loose ends – with filaments!

Breaking My Own Rules

I confess, I did it. I posted a comment on the internet. But, as this “debate” over the Ahmad Brooks hit on Drew Brees plays out, I continue to be flabbergasted at how hard it is for people to figure this out. So, I had to take a second and sum it up (with the requisite incorrect grammar and punctuation – it is an internet comment, after all!). Continue reading

The Safety Dance

I predicted the Saints would get a safety on San Francisco this past weekend, and they came so close.

But that’s not what I’m here to talk about.  Continue reading

I would like to take a second for the Washington, DC NFL franchise fanbase. How are you doing today, are you ok? I hope you’re not drinking too much. I know things have been rough and you think everything is doom and gloom, but there’s one thing I can tell you, DC, and that is this. It will get better. I can’t tell you when, or how, or even guarantee you’ll still be alive. But, it will get better…

I’ve been informed that the US men’s soccer team should be included in the filaments and I agree. They fit the (non-existent) definition of Even Losers Can Win. On to the links!

Saints T&P, Week 4

Am I ready for some football? You bet your manufactured music’s tail I am. Here are some of my thoughts, wishes and a final score prediction. Before we dive in though, I’d like to welcome the Washington REDACTED to the ranks of the victorious and extend further congratulations to the Atlanta Falcons. You guys are sucking just as much as I knew you could. Continue reading
